About Our Restorative Services

While preventive dentistry helps protect against oral health issues, restorative dentistry focuses on repairing or replacing damaged or missing teeth. At Summit Family Dentistry, we offer a variety of restorative dental services.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Early-stage tooth decay is temporary weakening of a tooth that can often be remineralized with improved oral hygiene and a better diet. However, a cavity (or hole) results if the minerals in the compromised area are not replenished. Small cavities can be fixed with a filling. We use composite fillings, which are tooth-colored and mercury-free. We remove the damaged area of your tooth and fill the space with a filling.

Dental Crowns

Crowns are like little dental caps for your teeth. We use CEREC technology, which lets us create stunning crowns in just one visit. Crowns can address several kinds of issues, such as when a tooth is cracked or severely damaged. Dental crowns can also hide a tooth that is severely discolored or misshapen and reinforce teeth following root canal therapy.

Necessary Tooth Extractions

We try to save a natural tooth if we can, but extractions are necessary for your oral health in some cases. We perform simple tooth extractions and gentle wisdom teeth removal.

Therapy for TMJ Dysfunction

Do you feel pain in your jaw or hear clicking when you open and close your jaw? It could be TMD, which is any problem with the temporomandibular joints that connect your jaw to your skull. The severity of TMJ dysfunction ranges from mildly annoying to downright painful. Non-invasive treatments can include exercises and custom mouthguards. Patients can also benefit from injections or surgery. We work with patients to identify the most conservative treatment to effectively treat their discomfort.

Dental Bridges

Are you missing teeth? Dental bridges usually replace two or more missing teeth. A bridge can be permanently attached to your natural teeth with crowns or to dental implants for a secure, natural-feeling fit.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement method. We begin by placing titanium posts in your jawbone, which replace the missing tooth roots. After you heal from surgery and the posts have fused to your jaw, we attach a realistic-looking tooth replacement on top.

Full, Partial, and Implant-Supported Dentures

If you’re missing most or all of your teeth, we can use full dentures, which are made from an acrylic base and artificial teeth. They’re secured with dental adhesives or with 4-8 implants. Different configurations of partial dentures can replace a few to several missing teeth by attaching to your remaining teeth with metal or plastic clips.
