How Do Dental Bridges Work?

For people who are missing teeth, dental bridges are an advanced way to fill in the gaps. At Summit Family Dentistry, we proudly offer a variety of restorative services including dental bridges to help our patients regain beautiful, complete, fully functioning smiles. Wondering how dental bridges work and if they’re the right option for you? In this blog post, we’ll discuss what dental bridges can do for your smile!

How Dental Bridges Work

A dental bridge is a multi-part prosthesis. It has custom dental crowns on either end with false, natural-looking replacement teeth in between the two crowns. The crowns of a bridge are either cemented onto existing healthy teeth or they are attached to dental implants at the gum line. Once in place, the false teeth in the middle of the bridge fill in the empty spaces where the missing natural teeth once were. Bridges look just like natural teeth, so most people won’t even be able to tell that they aren’t real!

The Many Benefits of Dental Bridges

Bridges are a great option for repairing your smile and boosting your self-esteem. They have many benefits including those listed below.

  • Allow patients to eat, talk, and laugh like normal
  • Are extremely easy to maintain
  • Are one of the more affordable tooth replacement solutions
  • Can either snap into place or be permanently cemented
  • Fill out the cheeks and lips
  • Give patients a more youthful-looking appearance
  • Look, feel, and function like natural teeth
